Keep in Touch

I talked to a few someones I haven’t heard from in ages.

The first was my cousin Cheri. She IMed me out of the blue today. Apparently my screen name went through the grapevine and made it to her desk. It was great hearing from her and I hope I get to talk to her some more.

The other was Kris Johnson. She was like a sister to me years ago, but after I had a falling out with her sister, we hadn’t spoke. I saw she was online and I couldn’t resist IMing her. We only spoke breifly, but I hope to speak with her again sometime soon.

This brings me to the topic of the post… Keeping on touch with people. Not just from the desert, but in my daily life too. I have a lot of time here to just think, and one of the decisions I’ve come to is that when I’m busy with my life back home, it’s really easy to not worry about contacting the people that don’t bother contacting me.

While most of you are going “Yea… so” right now, I’ve also decided that it’s not their fault any more than it is mine. Perhaps they mean to give me a call just as much as I do them… but like my life, it’s just never the right time.

Well, I’ve decided that now is that time. So I’m going to reach out to anyone that I haven’t talked to in a while, perhaps I’ll have to just send a letter, via real post, to reach out to them. Perhaps it’s a great friendship that never got a chance because no one put in enough effort required to get it started. In the case of Kris, it wasn’t even her and I that had a falling out, and I think that we will be able to communicate just fine… and who knows, perhaps in time her sister will talk to me again to.

It’s just to damn short a life to not talk to someone that you ought to. Friends and Family are the only reason for living on this earth… not money, fame, or status, but love… it’s the only reason for existing. Peroid.
