Thoughts of Friends

Posted by CrazySane on September 28th, 2007 filed in Pondering Thoughts

I just watched Disney’s Feel Good Film of the Year, “Read it and Weep.” It was great for a Disney movie.

It’s about this High School Girl, not very popular, though she has her tight nit group of friends. It’s got your common things, like the Cliques and the male best friend of our star that secretly loves her. But the stylish thing about the movie is that her private journal gets published by mistake. It works it way up until it becomes a National Best Seller, and everyone at school loves her. She basically starts to develop an alternate personality (that she talks to and people look at her like she’s crazy) and her real friends start to dislike her. The trick is (which is slightly hard to believe) that all the people in the High School don’t realize that the book is about them (she changed all the names in her journal, smart move as it turns out.) She goofs up on life TV and that’s when the shit hits the fan… she accidently says the “snobby bitch” in her school’s REAL NAME… instead of the character… the whole school realizes it’s about them (Duh!) and hates her again. Eventually she comes around, realizing just how much she’s hurt her real friends, goes to the “big dance” and apologies to the whole school… and all is right with the world again… oh yea, and she realizes the Jock didn’t actually write the poem to her, it was her best friend, and she dances with him instead. (Collective awwww..)

As sappy and boring as I might have just painted it, it was actually entertaining and enjoyable. It teaches a good lesson for kids that have watched it.

Either way, seeing “The Crew” of friends on the show really made me miss my Crew back home.
Reminded me of the stupid fun we’ve had for no reason whatsoever. The love for your friends and the feeling of emptiness when you’ve lost them is immeasurable.

Yours,
Matthew
